Overview

Docpoint is Finland's leading documentary film festival, held annually in late January and early February in Helsinki. Founded in 2002, the festival presents approximately 80 documentaries from Finland and around the world during its six-day run, making it the primary documentary platform in Finland.

The festival serves Finnish documentary filmmakers and audiences, providing a showcase for the year's most significant Finnish nonfiction alongside a curated international selection. Finland has a strong documentary tradition, with Finnish documentaries regularly appearing at major international festivals including IDFA, Sheffield DocFest, and CPH:DOX.

Helsinki's winter setting provides a distinctive Nordic atmosphere for intense film viewing. The festival's January-February timing makes it one of the first documentary events of the year, offering early exposure to films that will circulate internationally throughout the year.
