Overview

FIDBA (Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de Buenos Aires) is Argentina's most important documentary film festival. Founded in 2008 and held annually in August in Buenos Aires, the festival presents competitive international and Argentine documentary cinema in South America's most sophisticated cultural capital.

Buenos Aires has a rich documentary tradition, and FIDBA provides the primary domestic platform for this work. The festival's programming combines international documentary highlights with Argentine nonfiction, creating dialogue between local and global documentary filmmaking.

Argentina's documentary community is one of the most active in Latin America, with Argentine documentarians regularly competing at IDFA, CPH:DOX, and other major international events. FIDBA celebrates this tradition and provides the most important domestic recognition for Argentine documentary work.
