Overview

The Hyderabad International Film Festival is Telangana's most important film festival. Founded in 2006 and held annually in Hyderabad -- India's fourth-largest city and a major center for both technology (home to major campuses of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Indian IT giants) and Telugu-language Tollywood cinema -- the festival presents competitive international cinema alongside South Indian programming.

Hyderabad's dual identity as a technology capital and a film production hub creates an unusually innovative cultural context. The city's Telugu film industry (Tollywood) is one of India's largest by production volume and has produced globally recognized films including the RRR franchise and Baahubali.
