Overview

CPH:PIX is Copenhagen's most important international film festival for theatrical and popular cinema. Founded in 2009 from the merger of two earlier Copenhagen film events and held annually in October, the festival presents competitive international and Danish cinema to one of Scandinavia's most culturally dynamic capitals.

CPH:PIX operates as the fictional and narrative counterpart to CPH:DOX, Copenhagen's major documentary festival. Together the two festivals have made Copenhagen one of Europe's most important film cities, with two major competitive events serving distinct but overlapping audiences.

Denmark's extraordinary cinema tradition -- Dreyer, Bergman's Swedish counterpart Lars von Trier, the Dogme 95 movement, and more recently films by Susanne Bier, Thomas Vinterberg, and Nikolaj Arcel -- gives CPH:PIX a domestic film culture of unusual international prestige.
