Overview

One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is Central Europe's largest human rights documentary film festival. Founded in 1999 and held annually in March in Prague and other Czech cities, the festival screens approximately 80 documentaries on human rights themes and reaches audiences of over 80,000 across its touring editions in multiple Czech cities.

The festival was founded in the wake of the Velvet Revolution and Czech democracy's consolidation, reflecting the country's strong commitment to human rights values after decades of communist oppression. Czech civil society and the country's democratic traditions give the festival a particularly engaged audience and cultural resonance.

One World presents documentaries addressing civil liberties, political freedom, social justice, refugee and migration issues, economic rights, and environmental justice. The festival is one of the most important platforms in Europe for human rights documentary filmmaking.
