Overview

The Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) is Malaysia's most important international film festival. Founded in 2013 and held annually in Kuala Lumpur, the festival presents competitive Malaysian and international cinema in one of Southeast Asia's most multicultural and modern capitals.

Malaysia's extraordinary ethnic and cultural diversity -- Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous communities speaking dozens of languages alongside the national Bahasa Malaysia -- gives Malaysian cinema a multilayered cultural palette. Malaysian filmmakers work across languages and traditions, and the festival celebrates this richness.
