Overview

D'A Film Festival Barcelona (Festival de Cinema d'Autor) is Barcelona's most important independent cinema festival. Founded in 2011 and held annually in April and May, the festival presents formally adventurous and artistically ambitious world cinema to Barcelona's large, sophisticated cinema audience.

Barcelona's status as one of Europe's most cosmopolitan and culturally engaged cities provides an exceptional audience for independent cinema. The city's architecture, design culture, and international creative community give D'A a context that values formal ambition and artistic risk-taking.

The festival complements Barcelona's other film events by specifically championing auteur and independent filmmaking, programming films from the major European art cinema circuits alongside emerging talent.
