The Uganda Film Festival (UFF) is Uganda's most important film festival. Founded in 2013 and held annually in Kampala, the festival celebrates Ugandan and East African cinema and supports the development of one of East Africa's most rapidly growing film industries.
Uganda has seen significant growth in its film production sector over the past decade, with Ugandan films increasingly attracting attention at African and international festivals. The country's vibrant storytelling culture, its extraordinary natural heritage (Uganda has more mountain gorillas than anywhere else on earth), and its complex modern history create rich material for filmmakers.
The UFF is organized with support from the Uganda Communications Commission and has become a key institution in Uganda's cultural economy.
