Eligibility

• Films must not be in distribution or available for public viewing on YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms with general public access
• Films must be in English or in their original language with English subtitles
• Accepted screening formats: download link, Blu-Ray, and in select cases DCP and DVD
• The Selection Committee may elect to consider a film for an award outside its original entry category
• The Selection Committee may consider technical awards (Editing, Music, Cinematography) in both Short Film and Feature Film categories
• The Selection Committee may consider both Collegiate and High School Student Film awards
• The Selection Committee may elect not to award winners in a category if submissions do not meet selection standards

Premiere Status

CIFFest does not publicly list strict premiere requirements, but the eligibility rule that films "must not be in distribution or available for public viewing" functions as a de facto premiere restriction. Films already released on streaming platforms or in theatrical distribution are not eligible.
