Overview

The Herb Alpert Emerging Young Artists Scholarship is funded by the Herb Alpert Foundation and awarded to students at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). Herb Alpert, the musician, artist, and philanthropist, has been a longtime supporter of arts education, and the foundation provides full-tuition scholarships to exceptional students at CalArts across all disciplines, including the School of Film/Video.

CalArts was founded by Walt Disney and is home to one of the most respected animation programs in the world, alongside strong programs in live-action filmmaking, experimental media, and the performing arts. The Herb Alpert scholarship ensures that financial barriers do not prevent the most talented applicants from attending.

The scholarship is merit-based and awarded as part of the CalArts admissions process. Students do not apply separately; all admitted students are considered based on the strength of their creative portfolios and academic records.
